Legalisation of documents for uae
Documents destined for the United Arab Emirates usually need to be notarised by a UK Notary Public or other public official like a registrar of births and deaths.
After the document has been notarised it must be sent to the United Kingdom Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Legalisation Office who will affix an Apositlle confirming the UK Notary’s signature and seal.
You can click here for an explanation of what an Apostille is and how these are obtained.
The document is then lodged with the UAE Consulate in London. Please check the UAE Consulate page for an up-to-date assessment of their fees click here.
January 2024 update. Right now, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks (21-28 working days) to get documents legalised.
This time might change depending on how busy the embassy or consulate staff are.
Things might take a bit longer during Ramadan.
